Featured Charity – Vitamin Angels

It was actually through my work for Jones Soda as an OPM (I’ve been blessed to work with some very innovative companies), that I was introduced to Vitamin Angels by Jones Soda founder Peter van Stolk. The impact Vitamin Angels’ was having in one small but fundamental area is immediately apparent. Their focus is supplying essential vitamins in order to reduce the child mortality rate. A simple goal, and one they have implemented through cooperation with other nonprofits and NGOs in order to maximize the amount of funds that reaches those most in need. It is why Vitamin Angels enjoys such a high Charity Navigator rating.

Having met Howard Schiffer, the founder of Vitamin Angels, the passion for what they are trying to accomplish come through quite clearly. As Howard says about the initial challenges in founding Vitamin Angels:

“What I didn’t know was: (1) how to reach children in rural communities and villages around the world, and (2) what an incredible impact basic nutrition could have on their lives. At the time I thought getting vitamins to kids who were chronically malnourished was probably a good idea, never dreaming that it would be recognized as a centerpiece for global health only 16 years later.”

This year Vitamin Angels will reach 20 million children in 40 countries, including the United States, with vital nutrients. It is for these reasons that we’ve chosen Vitamin Angels as a featured charity. You can either donate through the ReveNews.org ChipIn widget below (allowing you to donate through Paypal) or directly at VitaminAngels.org by creating a new account. It is a cause well worth considering and supporting.
