Featured Charity – Kiva
Initially we started working with Kiva as a way to reward writers who wanted to provide content to ReveNews.com but were not interested in getting paid per article. It just made sense to support other entrepreneurs. After our initial introduction to Kiva, we quickly realized how this organization is changing hundreds of thousands of lives.
Our first loans were to Rosa in El Salvador who needed supplies for her tortilla shop; to Gustavo, also in El Salvador, who runs a medicine delivery service; and to the Natanael Group in Mexico, a coalition of 12 female artisans who make pottery. All the micro-loans were repaid in full (Kiva has an over 98% repayment rate for all loans extended).
Since then Kiva has expanded its reach and goals. It now lends into the States as well, giving us a chance to make our first loan to a small U.S. business. More importantly Kiva give entrepreneurs worldwide the chance to pursue their dreams.
It is for these reasons that we’ve chosen Kiva as a featured charity. You can either donate through the ReveNews.org ChipIn widget below (allowing you to donate through PayPal) or directly at Kiva.org by creating a new account. It is a cause well worth considering and supporting.
